The Power of Self Belief

Biologists have determined that technically the Bumble Bee cannot fly. Thankfully the Bumble Bee is unable to read and therefore won’t believe a word of it.

Our self-belief plays a significant role in how we develop as a person. In fact the image of who we are is largely foundered on our past. Importantly however, those experiences have not made you the way you are, they made you believe the way you are.

Many learned people believe that by the time we reach the age of two, 50 percent of what we believe about ourselves had been formed; by six, 60 percent of our self-belief had been established, and by eight, about 80 percent. At fourteen years of age over 99 percent of us had a well-developed sense of who and what we believe ourselves to be.

The most unknown, unused and unrecognized tool of the human mind is the recognition that attitude is always a choice. With this in mind, ultimately we have the power to decide what we believe about ourselves. Do not let others and society impose limitations on what you can do or become.

It is impossible to rise above your level of expectation. If you expect nothing or little from yourself then don’t be surprised if you amount to nothing, or very little.

It is your choice as to where you set your level of expectation. With a healthy attitude to life and an honest realistic approach, you determine who you are.
